The grant ⁢program‌ is open to‍ organizations located within the 21 ⁣local school divisions⁤ that make up the WHRO service area. If you’re part⁤ of one of these organizations,⁣ you can apply for funding to support‌ projects that showcase the region’s history, heritage, and cultural traditions.

As President and CEO of WHRO, Bert Schmidt, said, “At WHRO, we’re proud to support organizations that bring to life the stories and‍ traditions that ⁢define our‍ region. This new program offers an exciting opportunity for nonprofits to explore our region’s history and⁢ heritage, fostering a deeper appreciation for the communities ‌we serve.”

The grant program is part of Virginia Humanities’ efforts⁢ to support and bring the humanities to all Virginians. As Executive Director Matthew Gibson explained, “Our mission has always been to support and bring the humanities to all Virginians. The regional center initiative is critical to our efforts to help ‌all Virginians feel connected to their local communities by better understanding ‌the ‌histories and cultures of the places where they⁤ live and work every day.”
