Celebration of Life honoring Katie Histing held at GSR | Local News

Today the community celebrated the life of a young woman who was an entrepreneur, a fierce advocate of childhood cancer, and a Manogue grad.

Katie Histing battled a rare cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma for nearly six years before passing away in November.

During her fight, she lobbied lawmakers in Washington for more funding for pediatric cancer research.

She also started Katie’s Collective – a business to sell her art to raise money for non-profits like the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation.

She was known for her positive attitude and her passion for helping others; so it’s no surprise that hundreds converged on the GSR today to celebrate her life.

Our own Kristen Remington emceed the celebration and tells us Katie’s Collective will continue on to help even more families battling cancer.

Katie Histing was just 23 years old.
