In 2025, United Way of Lancaster County will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Since 1925, United Way has served Lancaster County by enacting change, aiding nonprofits and businesses, and creating opportunities for people to come together. To celebrate the milestone United Way will host a year of elevated signature events including a Centennial Gala on October 25, 2025, at the Lancaster County Convention Center.
United Way of Lancaster County’s CEO Kate Zimmerman has written a letter to the community about this momentous celebration:
One hundred years ago, a group of Lancaster County leaders came together to make their community better. They recognized a need existed in Lancaster County to “coordinate, maintain, and finance our health and human services agencies”, and what would eventually become United Way of Lancaster County was born.
We’ve grown, changed, evolved, and sometimes even faltered during our history but that legacy of that leadership and generosity lives on. As we celebrate a century of service to this community in 2025, our mission of advancing the education, economic mobility, and health and wellbeing of our community by mobilizing resources, people, and organizations is stronger than ever.
We have big plans for our 100th year, and we hope you will join us as we mark this important milestone. From ambitious fundraising goals so we can better serve our community, to our gala on October 25, 2025 (save the date!), everything we do this year will be infused with centennial energy.
As we look backwards at our history, we are also looking to the future and having conversations about how United Way of Lancaster County will show up on the first day of our 101st year, and the next day, and the day after that, for 100 more years.
