Local non-profits see increase in donated items during holiday season
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — For some people, this is a time to create space in their closet for all their new clothes and items they received as gifts.
Many non-profits see increased donations and total items donated during the holiday season.
One such organization is the Hope Chest in Leland, which works closely with the Hope Harbor Domestic Violence Shelter.
Store manager Patricia Williamson said it means a lot to be so well supported by the community.
“It’s really fulfilling to be able to have so much stuff come in from the community to put out here and you’re really tired at the end of the day, more so than on a regular, steady day,” Williamson said. “But at the end of the day, its like win-win, we did a great job and its just really awesome.”
If you would like to donate to Hope Chest, their donation drop-off hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
