‘Give Alliance 365’ fund works to aid nonprofits

Alliance has always been a place where neighbors look out for one another, businesses step up for local causes, and nonprofits work tirelessly to make life better for everyone.

It’s a town built on resilience, compassion and the power of coming together.

Give Alliance 365 is the latest chapter in this story – a movement born from the heart of the community and fueled by the idea that even the smallest gestures can create lasting change.

According to Heidi McClung, executive director of the Greater Alliance Foundation, for just $1 a day – $365 a year – anyone can be a part of something extraordinary that includes hundreds of people pooling their contributions to create real, tangible impact. “That’s the beauty of Give Alliance 365. It’s not about how much any one person can give; it’s about what a community can accomplish together,” McClung said.

This idea was brought to Alliance by Chas Mitchell, co-owner of Grove Appliance, and a trustee of the Greater Alliance Foundation. Mitchell is committed to continuing his family’s legacy of giving. Inspired by a similar program in another state, Mitchell saw the transformative power of a community uniting around a shared mission. Building on the vision of his grandfather, Charlie Grove, a founding father of the Greater Alliance Foundation, Mitchell brought the program to life in Alliance, knowing it could spark the same kind of hope and opportunity.

Since its launch in 2021, Give Alliance 365 has raised nearly $100,000, and the impact is already being felt. What makes the program successful is its focus on both today and tomorrow. Half of the funds raised each year are distributed as microgrants to local nonprofits serving the Greater Alliance area, helping them meet immediate needs and expand their services. The other half is invested into an endowment, ensuring that this movement thrives for generations to come.

“We wanted to create something that could make a difference now and forever,” Mitchell said. “When you join Give Alliance 365, you’re not just helping a nonprofit today; you’re building a legacy that will keep growing, touching more lives year after year.”

The power of this initiative lies in its simplicity and inclusivity. These contributions fund programs that feed families, educate children, and offer hope to those who need it most.

“This initiative is proof of what happens when a community invests in itself,” McClung, said. “It’s not just about what we can do today – it’s about creating a ripple effect that will make life better for those who come after us.”

By joining Give Alliance 365, individuals, families, organizations, and businesses can be part of something lasting.
