Assemblyman Giglio Announces $200,000 in Grants for Nonprofits

Funding will benefit YMCA the Historic Bartlett House and Cuba Library

From the Office of NYS Assemblyman Giglio,

ALBANY – Assemblyman Joseph M. Giglio (R, C-Gowanda) announced a total of $200,000 in grants to support the YMCA of the Twin Tiers, Cuba Circulating Library and the historic Fannie E. Bartlett House.

Assemblyman Giglio awarded $75,000 to the Fannie E. Bartlett House in Olean to assist with a $119,000 project to replace the Bartlett House roof, $75,000 to help complete a $427,000 Children’s Room project at Cuba Circulating Library and $50,000 as part of a $150,000 project to renovate the lobby of the Olean YMCA to create new spaces for teens and senior citizens to meet.

“I am so happy to be able to provide this critical funding to the Bartlett House, the Y and Cuba Library,” Assemblyman Giglio said. “Each of these organizations is vital to not just their home communities, but the region.”

“The Bartlett House preserves the region’s history, including papers and artifacts from Gov. Frank Higgins, the only governor to come from Olean. The Olean YMCA is recognized for its innovative programs and the Cuba Library has been serving the community since 1872. These are cornerstones of our community and I am happy to support them.”

The funding was secured through New York’s State and Municipal Facilities program.

The Bartlett House, built in 1881, has been the home of the Olean Historical and Preservation Society since 1990. Leaks in the roof threatened the priceless displays and historical records kept there.

“The Bartlett House is a treasure for Olean. The craftsmanship as well as the historic furniture and artifacts keep Olean’s rich history alive and at forefront. The City of Olean is pleased to be a recipient of the SAM grant which will help us fund a new roof and preserve this gem. I would like to thank Assemblyman Giglio for his help in securing this grant for the Bartlett House,” said Olean Mayor Bill Aiello.

Cuba Circulating Library Director Tina Dalton said the grant will help renovate the library’s Children’s Room, enhancing accessibility and safety.

“This funding will help us create a welcoming, ADA-accessible space, including a beautiful sculptural tree, while ensuring safety through a new fire alarm system,” she said. “We appreciate Assemblyman Giglio choosing our library to receive this grant, investing in our community and its future readers.”

Jeff Townsend, YMCA of the Twin Tiers CEO, said the grant will have a lasting impact.

“On behalf of the YMCA of the Twin Tiers, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Assemblyman Giglio for your unwavering support helping us to secure this $50,000 SAMs Grant,” he said. “Your dedication to our community is helping us create improved spaces that will have a lasting impact on both teens and seniors. This grant will enable us to enhance our spaces which will improve our ability to deliver programs and services, foster growth and connection, and create opportunities for all.”
