Armstrong Co-op raises $12K for local food banks
The Co-op is also doing a food drive at gas bar locations in Armstrong, Salmon Arm, Vernon and Cranbrook
The Armstrong Regional Co-op has once again drummed up funds for local food banks this holiday season.
The annual campaign by the Co-op and ARC Liquor raised more than $12,000 this year for food banks in the regions it serves, which includes Armstrong, Salmon Arm, Vernon, Revelstoke, Kelowna and Cranbrook.
“With food bank usage in Canada at an all-time high, it’s more important than ever to support children and families in the battle against hunger,” said Jason Keis, Armstrong Regional Cooperative’s marketing and community relations manager.
The Co-op also attended a number of community events this holiday season, offering hot chocolate by donation in support of local food banks. It’s also running holiday food drives at its Co-op gas bars.
To donate, simply stop in at an Armstrong Regional Co-op gar bar and drop off non-perishable food items. Every donation comes with a chance to win a $100 Co-op gift card. One card will be given away at every site.
“We would like to say a big thank you to our Co-op members and customers that have supported our local food drives and events in support of local food banks this holiday season,” said Keis. “Together we can make a difference.”
The Co-op gas bar locations participating in the food drive are:
• 3550 Okanagan Street, Armstrong
• 3100 10 Ave. NE, Salmon Arm
• 50 Trans Canada Hwy SW, Salmon Arm
• 3530 27th St, Vernon
• 3401 32 St, Vernon
• 1216 Cranbrook St. N, Cranbrook
The Armstrong Regional Co-op has served its members for over 100 years. Today, it serves more than 38,000 members as well as many more customers in the Okanagan, Shuswap and Kootenays.
