County Commission resumes funding for Cottonwood rescue

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY) – As expected, Houston County Commissioners gave $24,000 to the Cottonwood rescue unit this morning.

The commission had refused to appropriate the money after a state audit found thousands missing from the medical transport non-profit.

Leadership changed, and now commissioners are confident in the Cottonwood operation.

“We never want an interruption of services and I think the people that stepped in ensured that never happened. We are more than happy to turn this money back on and allow them to get the funding they need to operate. They are doing a good job,“ Brandon Shoupe, the Houston County Commission Chairman said.

Cottonwood Rescue serves southeast Houston County, including the Lovetown area.
