Community leaders in Cedar Rapids unite to focus on civil rights and solidarity

Community and faith leaders gathered Sunday in Cedar Rapids for what they called a Community Cry Out. State Senator Liz Bennett and leaders from area churches and non-profits spoke about the need for community and continuing the fight for civil rights over the next four years.

Organizers also passed out a QR code that directs people to a list of resources to help them get passports, verify wills, access food banks, shelters, and even how to grow your own food at home.

“In this time of division, we don’t have to feel alone, and we want to come together and share a message of solidarity and just, be with each other at this time,” Organizer Jess Karma said.
