Texarkana nonprofits partners with area schools to pack hygiene bags for the homeless community | Texarkana
TEXARKANA, Ark. – A Texarkana non-profit is working with area students to make sure the homeless community has the supplies they need to help get them through the winter months.
The group “Just, Love and Kindness” started the project two years ago.
Student councils from nine school districts gathered at Arkansas High School Thursday morning to assemble hygiene bags with cold weather supplies. Some of the items in the bag included blankets, scarves, hats, socks and personal hygiene products.
The students then hand delivered more than 200 bags to clients of the Randy Sams’ Outreach Center, Salvation Army and Mission Texarkana.
The non-profit plans to distribute 940 winter coats tomorrow to students in 10 school districts.
They’ve also awarded five students pursuing degrees in career and technology with $1,000 scholarships.
