Parishes, schools, Catholic nonprofits gear up for ninth annual #weGiveCatholic
It’s nearly time for the ninth annual #weGiveCatholic.
This online day of giving on Dec. 3 will benefit 244 Catholic schools, parishes, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland and Catholic nonprofits throughout the eight-county Diocese of Cleveland. #weGiveCatholic takes place on Giving Tuesday, the largest online giving day of the year. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to raise awareness of participating organizations, encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide.
For the convenience of donors, early gifts will be accepted beginning at midnight Nov. 23.
Donations can be made from a computer, tablet or smartphone. Accepted forms of payment are all major credit cards, bank account debit, Apple Pay, donor advised funds, Google Pay, PayPal and Venmo. Donations also can be made through a donor’s IRA. Secure, tax-deductible donations will be accepted on the website.
By designating your favorite organization, the money contributed will benefit that organization directly. Participating parishes, schools, nonprofits and organizations can vie for prizes throughout the day on Dec. 3.
According to the Catholic Community Foundation, which oversees #weGiveCatholic and assists participating entities, the goal of the event is to “inspire our Catholic community to unite awareness for and support organizations that shape our souls: our parishes, schools, Catholic Charities and nonprofit organizations.”
Among this year’s #weGiveCatholic participants are CYO, Catholic Charities Fatima Family Center and other family centers, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio, the West Side Catholic Center, Camp Christopher, Joseph & Mary’s Home, Holy Family Hospice, many Catholic elementary schools and high schools, parishes and Catholic ministries at local colleges and universities.

Bishop Edward Malesic once again encourages participation in #weGiveCatholic.
“Let’s come together on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3, to raise awareness and inspire our Catholic community to generosity in support of Catholic parishes, Catholic schools, Catholic Charities sites/programs and Catholic nonprofits in our region,” he said.
