Diaspora Connects With Greek Non-Profits Through THI’s “Volunteer Connect” Program – Greek City Times
New York, November 19 – The Hellenic Initiative (THI), a prominent organization for Greeks abroad and Philhellenes (friends of Greece), announces the launch of “Volunteer Connect” – a program connecting the Diaspora with impactful volunteer opportunities in Greece.
Partnering with HIGGS, a leader in supporting Greek Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), THI developed a platform allowing global volunteers to engage in meaningful projects. Integrated into THI’s website, volunteers can find opportunities matching their skills and availability.
Volunteer Connect addresses the need for expertise within Greek CSOs. By connecting skilled volunteers with local leaders and staff, the program strengthens these organizations’ social impact.
“THI Volunteer Connect empowers organizations working in health, education, and social development,” stated Sotiris Petropoulos, HIGGS co-founder. “This platform strengthens Greece’s social fabric through volunteering – the purest form of civic engagement.”
Founded in 2012, THI fosters investment in Greece through economic development and crisis relief initiatives. As the largest Greek Diaspora organization, THI has raised over $37 million (visit thehellenicinitiative.org for more).
“Our most valuable resource is not financial support, but the knowledge and experience of our members driven by their love for Greece,” said George P. Stamas, THI Board President.
“The expertise and dedication of the THI family is unmatched,” added Andrew N. Liveris, THI Board Chairman. “Volunteer Connect will be a vital network, enabling Greek CSOs to access knowledge from around the world.”
