2 East Texas non-profits merge to expand capabilities, program offerings

HENDERSON, Texas (KLTV) – Wiseman Ministries is merging with the Henderson Food Pantry and Resale shop.

The goal is to expand their output and help individuals in the area that are struggling with food insecurity, addiction, and other life-control issues.

“I feel that theres a lot of people struggling, and we want to be here to help all the people in our community. With more that just a program, with more than resale shops, but now with food,” said Tabitha Wiseman, the Senior Program Director at Wiseman Ministries.

Wiseman Ministries has locations across East Texas, including Overton, Longview, Carthage, and De Berry.

These facilities aim to help men, women, and children with a wide array of resources. One of the main ones being the year long program that leads people to a better life.

Providing classes for addiction and providing a work-based environment.

One of the graduates, Jalea Sparks, worked her way through the program and now into a position with the ministry.

“You can’t just come out of jail and go be a facility director at a rehab facility. Most you have to have some type of management skills a lot of the times, so i think it’s great to give the people the opportunity you wouldn’t normally get, you know, because of your history,” said Sparks.

The pantry they are merging with will split into two parts.

The current pantry location will remain a pantry but also add life coaching, an employment agency, and other amenities such as showers and a laundromat.

The resale shop will relocate to the upcoming shot to be built in Henderson.

“It’s always been a conversation between our team of how can we do this better. So where we are serving 250 people a week, we would love to see that double or triple in the coming years,” said Samuel Sadler, the Vice President of the Sadler Family Foundation and a board member of the food pantry.

“We have to be consistently looking ahead and how to carry that legacy on” continued Sadler.

The Wisemans say they hope to break ground on the resale facility early next year, and have the facility completed by the middle of next year.
