Local Kern County non-profit organization hosts “Cigar Night” fundraiser
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The non-profit organizationRaíces of Kern held a “Cigar Night” fundraiser yesterday night.
The goal of the organization and fundraiser is to help support the local Latino community in Kern County.
The fundraiser was held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at “Z’s” Cigar Lounge in Northwest Bakersfield.
Raíces of Kern President Ramon Sanchez told Eyewitness News that the fundraiser is a great asset to helping the youth of Kern County.
“The funds are going directly to Raíces of Kern, and we specifically give out fundraisers or actually give out scholarships to our youth,” said Sanchez, “So we partner with Youth 2 leaders, and we give away scholarships, especially for first-generation migrant youth that, again, aren’t able to go ahead and have money for themselves.”
Raíces of Kern also hosts “CultureFest” each year, and profits also go back to the Kern County youth.
