More than 250 nonprofit leaders from all corners of Alabama came together in Birmingham recently to attend the 2024 Elevate Conference, hosted by the Alabama Power Foundation. This annual event is a chance for nonprofit trailblazers to connect, exchange ideas and get reenergized as they work toward making a bigger impact in communities across the state.
RADAR CHECK: We have a few showers on radar this afternoon across Southwest Alabama, otherwise there is a mix of sun and clouds across the state with temperatures mostly in the 70s. Some of the warmer spots are in the low 80s.

Several record daily high minimum temperatures records have been broken. These reports coming in from the NWS Huntsville and Birmingham offices. These are for November 7.
Many Alabama communities will exceed 80 degrees again today with a mix of sun and clouds under a strong upper ridge, the same ridge that is keeping the hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico far to the south. A few spotty showers are possible this afternoon, mainly over the southern half of the state.
While no direct impacts to the Gulf Coast are expected, Rafael may still bring a risk of rip currents through early next week.
RADAR CHECK: Most of Alabama is rain-free this afternoon; we note just a few showers around Mobile Bay. With a mix of sun and clouds temperatures are in the upper 70s and low 80s. Huntsville reached 84 degrees at 2p CT… that is a new record high for November 7 (the old record was 82 set last in 2023).
Drought conditions are worsening across the state of Alabama. For the second week in a row, every county in the state is under one of the drought categories.
