Neighbors helping neighbors with competitive goofy golf game

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Beach Care Services hosted its 3rd annual Goofy Golf fundraiser on Saturday morning.

During the event, 54 teams played on an 18-hole course at Goofy Golf in Panama City Beach. Proceeds went towards Beach Care Services.

Beach Care Services is a non-profit organization with a mission to help anyone who may be facing a difficult time in Panama City Beach.

This year’s fundraiser brought out more than 100 people, with ages ranging from 4 to 74.

Organizers said they had a goal in mind. But their biggest goal is helping the community.

“I am hoping to raise $8k this year,” the Vice President of Beach Services Melissa Texler told us. “$8k is a big help for Beach Care Services and helping families if your short on your rent, or your short on your power bill. It’s a hand up not a handout. And it’s very important we have these fundraisers to be able to help us be able to get that money back into the community.”

This Goofy Golf event is one of the nonprofits smaller fundraisers. But organizers told us it’s one of the most fun.
