Speedway raffles go distance for non-profit groups | Local News
The Thunder City Speedway has once again proven itself to be a vital supporter of our community, making a profound impact through its charitable initiatives.
This season, the Speedway’s 50/50 raffles have generated over $120,000, providing crucial funding for local non-profit organizations, including Our Kids Count and Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association.
Our Kids Count, a grassroots charity dedicated to supporting children and families in need, has greatly benefited from these generous contributions. The funds raised through the 50/50 sales have enabled the organization to expand its programs, offering essential resources and services to those who need them most.
“The support from Thunder City Speedway has been invaluable,” said Jackie Knough, executive director at Our Kids Count.
“Their commitment to our community and the funds raised through the 50/50 raffles have allowed us to continue to provide valuable programs with a focus on food security, mental health, parenting support and so much more to adults, youth and children in the community.”
Similarly, Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association is a local non-profit charitable organization that thrives from fundraising. It provides therapy to children, youth and adults with all disabilities to improve their physical and mental health as well as their overall wellness by participating in horseback riding.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the Speedway’s dedications to making a positive difference in our community,” said Tereza Biloski, president of Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association.
“(Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association) has been very fortune to raise the funds from selling the 50/50 to ensure our program runs for another successful year. The funds from the Thunder City Speedway have helped us tremendously. It has helped us cover most of the yearly program costs, ensuring that more individuals can experience the benefits of equine therapy.”
Each race day, fans not only enjoy thrilling competition but also contribute to a great cause.
A heartfelt thank you to Norm and Louis Nadin, the entire team at Thunder City Speedway, the fans and all the dedicated volunteers and everyone that purchased a 50/50 ticket . . . enhancing the lives of those in our community.
