BroadView Talent Partners Assists Communities in Schools in Ohio with Executive Director Search
October 16, 2024 – BroadView Talent Partners has assisted in the recruitment of Adero Robinson as the new executive director of Communities in Schools in Ohio. Christie Angel, Johanna Vargas, Donna Young, and Elizabeth Keyser led the assignment. Mr. Robinson previously served as the senior vice president, executive director for City Year Columbus. He also served as the organization’s chief of staff, where he was charged with overseeing the activities of the executive, human resources, and operations departments.
Mr. Robinson has over 26 years of nonprofit experience. He began his career as an AmeriCorps member with City Year Columbus serving as a tutor and mentor in a Columbus City Schools 5th grade classroom. Mr. Robinson then transitioned to a project leader, where he supervised AmeriCorps members serving at Gladstone Elementary School.
Later, as a community development specialist with the Columbus Compact Corporation, Mr. Robinson worked to improve the quality of life in Columbus’ central city neighborhoods through the implementation of high-impact community-based projects. During his tenure as a senior impact manager with the United Way of Central Ohio, he led the Neighborhood Partnership Center and worked with education, health, and neighborhood-based non-profits on funding opportunities, programming, and capacity building. Mr. Robinson also served as the director of education services for the Columbus Urban League and as a project manager with Battelle for Kids.
In his new position with Communities in Schools in Ohio, Mr. Robinson will serve as the primary leader and director for Communities In Schools, guiding the organization toward successfully realizing its philosophy, mission, and strategic objectives. Collaborating closely with the board of trustees, he will help set annual goals and objectives, ensuring they align with the broader strategic aims of the organization. Mr. Robinson will be instrumental in implementing these strategic goals, steering the organization toward its envisioned future.

Founded in 1977, it operates under the belief that students can thrive academically when their basic needs are met and when they receive personalized support.

Prior to starting BroadView Talent Partners (formerly HCGA Consulting Partners) in 2015, Mr. McMillan served as the vice president of global talent acquisition for the NBA. Previously, he spent five years as a managing director at Diversified Search Group.

Ms. Angel is the leader of BroadView’s Midwest office. She has spent three decades engaging her community, building relationships, and advising leaders, all while transforming programs and organizations. Ms. Angel’s prior experience includes five years as president and CEO of YWCA Columbus. Some of Ms. Angel’s professional contributions involve working with a host of public officials and their administrations. Supporting the transition teams for Columbus mayor Andrew J. Ginther, former mayor Michael Coleman, and former Ohio governor Ted Strickland, she as an advisor to city and state leaders.
Ms. Vargas, vice president and senior associates, has over 18 years of business experience including human resource services and consulting, as well as talent acquisition, coaching and training. Specializing in brand awareness and acquisition integration as well as organizational and business development, she is passionate about solving complex analytical problems, improving processes, and helping clients achieve their organizational goals.
Ms. Young manages BroadView Talent Partners’ administrative, organizational, search and candidate logistical support. She specializes in project management, customer relationships, marketing, social media, client/corporate communications, graphic design, and sales. Ms. Young was a founder/partner of Interrobang Design, a design firm based in NYC, with clients such as Random House, Tourneau, and Unilever.
Ms. Keyser is an associate and conducts formal and informal referencing and social media and reputation screens for finalist candidates in leadership positions in the non-profit, affordable housing, and mid-market sectors. She interviews multiple references, conducts research, and prepares reports. Ms. Keyer has 20 years of experience as a writer, editor, and content creator for websites, magazines, and newspapers, covering a range of topics and industries.
